Was Asked ‘if you were a woman what kind of birth would you want’? Here is what I said…..

I experience the world ‘through’ a male neurophysiology etc so I can only EVER approximate what it’s like to ‘be’ a woman.
Women are a mystery to me, and I like that.

To answer question: I would want a list of ‘preferences’ for sure and ONE intention.

Preferences would include: environment :home or MLU

I would want to be the first person to touch my baby

Offer baby Breast straight away

Physiological 3 stage

Doula

Preference for no VE

Intermittent auscultation

Water available if I wanted to be in it for birth

Prefer no Vit k

These would be some of my preferences.

I would learn ways of occupying my conscious mind, so my less than conscious ‘genius mind’ could be freed to do that which needs NO instruction. Hypno birthing, mindfulness, meditation, music, slow dancing, etc

ONE INTENTION:
To: ‘lose my ‘mind’ and come to my ‘senses’ as my wonderful body was birthing my baby’. ☺️

  1. that last statement “‘to lose my ‘mind’ and come to my ‘senses’ as my wonderful body was birthing my baby” really sums it up. Great post.

  2. Absolutely Mark! I just wish that more midwives knew how to read the signs of labour without VE and to give mums the opportunity to catch their baby if circumstances allow. I was robbed of that oh so important moment of which I had dreamed for about 5 years, nanoseconds after an (unknown) midwife had asked what did I want and I had uttered “I want to catch him!” I really grieved for that moment lost. You can read my blog article about Birth Grief here:http://bit.ly/1podoPe

  3. Yes Mark great post, to ‘lose yourself’ and when disturbed your birth partner(s) can help you get back there 😊
